Latine (or Latinx) Heritage Month takes place on September 15 to October 15

WMPG will be paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our community throughout our programming.

On The Night Train Show next Wednesday, August 16, from 2:30 to 3 pm, Rick and Bill will be conducting a live interview with the two founding members of the local Blues-Rock band, Memphis Lightning. In the WMPG on-air studio will be singer and guitarist Darren “Lightnin” Thiboutot and his father, “Big Red,” who is also the band’s bass player and background singer.

On yesterday’s Let’s Connect Greater Portland radio show, Grier Miskell from the Quality Housing Coalition and Aaron Geyer, Director of Social Services for the City of Portland spoke to Tom Bell about a new home-share program to provide housing for asylum seekers who on Aug. 16 could be homeless when the Portland Expo shelter shuts down.

WMPG honors and celebrates Pride.  June will see special programming from our DJ’s and hosts. Pride Portland is on June 17th.

WMPG is proud to be a home for all different music, from different cultures all around the world. September 15th marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month.  This month, we hope you too will celebrate the Hispanic community

February is Black History Month, and with that in mind, WMPG will be broadcasting special shows with featured guest artists and additional on-air content throughout February.  This is supplementing our usual programming with the specific focus of highlighting the art, lived experiences, and perspectives of the Black community.
