Memphis Lighting interview with Bill and Rick

On The Night Train Show next Wednesday, August 16, from 2:30 to 3 pm, Rick and Bill will be conducting a live interview with the two founding members of the local Blues-Rock band, Memphis Lightning. In the WMPG on-air studio will be singer and guitarist Darren “Lightnin” Thiboutot and his father, “Big Red,” who is also the band’s bass player and background singer.

New home-share program for asylum seekers

On yesterday’s Let’s Connect Greater Portland radio show, Grier Miskell from the Quality Housing Coalition and Aaron Geyer, Director of Social Services for the City of Portland spoke to Tom Bell about a new home-share program to provide housing for asylum seekers who on Aug. 16 could be homeless when the Portland Expo shelter shuts down.

Black History Month Highlights at WMPG

February is Black History Month, and with that in mind, WMPG will be broadcasting special shows with featured guest artists and additional on-air content throughout February.  This is supplementing our usual programming with the specific focus of highlighting the art, lived experiences, and perspectives of the Black community.
