How to Volunteer

DJ Training at WMPG

DJ Training is offered to anyone interested! Training sessions are held every two months at our studios at University of Southern Maine (USM) in Portland, Maine. You will need to come in to WMPG or call us at our radio station to see when DJ training is posted. There are 24 spots open each round. If you would like to sign up for training please contact Jessica Lockhart.

All volunteers will attend an orientation meeting. Here you will learn more about how WMPG radio operates and the process to become a DJ, talk show host or other volunteer options. At the orientation meeting you will sign up for 6 hours of radio production training that takes place over 3 weeks.

Training is free to University of Southern Maine students. A small, one time administration fee of $25 is charged to all non-USM trainees.

Volunteering at WMPG Radio at University of Southern Maine

WMPG has many events during the year and we always need help! If you are interested in working our phone bank, or one of our promotional tables or perhaps volunteering at our record sale and help carry a few heavy boxes of records send us an email to Station Manager Jim Rand with your contact information – we will be in touch!

Internships and Work Study at WMPG

We also offer USM students opportunities for internships and Work Study. Students who have been awarded federal work study funds as part of their annual financial aid package should contact Station Manager Jim Rand for an application.
