How to Volunteer

DJ training is offered to anyone interested! Training sessions are held every two months at our studios at USM in Portland, Maine. You will need to come in or call to see when the training sign up is posted. There are 24 spots open each round. If you would like to sign up for training please contact Jessica Lockhart.

All volunteers will need to come to an orientation meeting. This is where you will learn more about how WMPG operates and the process to become a DJ, Talk Show host or other volunteer options. At the orientation meeting you will sign up for the actual training session which consist of 6 hours total that takes place over 3 weeks.

Training is free to USM students. A small, one time administration fee of $25 is charged to all non-USM trainees.

WMPG has many events during the year and we always need help! If you are interested in working our phone bank, or one of our promotional tables or perhaps volunteering at our record sale and help carry a few heavy boxes of records send us an email to Station Manager Jim Rand with your contact information. We will be in touch!

We also offer USM students opportunities for internships and Work Study. Students who have been awarded federal work study funds as part of their annual financial aid package should contact Station Manager Jim Rand for an application.
