Everyday in the month of March WMPG is airing a short audio feature about an influential woman in history. We’ll hear women from Maine to Pakistan who’s fame ranges from Actress, Author to Activist.

WMPG Fat Tuesday Cajun Cookin' Challenge Results!

WMPG Fat Tuesday Celebration

WMPG Community Radio presented the 24th annual Fat Tuesday Cajun Cookin’ Challenge on the Portland campus of USM on March 5, Mardi Gras Tuesday.

As is annual tradition, WMPG Community Radio offered a day of music, community and food to celebrate Mardi Gras. Rob Sylvain’s Cajun Aces performed Cajun and Acadian music live at midday. Eleven restaurants participated, with a broad variety of Cajun and New Orleans inspired cuisine:

Black History Month- audio history stories

Everyday in the month of February WMPG is airing a short audio feature about an influential Black man or woman in history. We’ll hear about people from Maine to Malawi. We celebrate scientists, radicals, teachers, preachers, musicians, athletes, and those who fought to followed their dreams.

Martin Luther King Jr. special program

Monday Jan 21st WMPG presented a special 2 hour tribute to the life of Reverend King. WMPG DJ’s Jam, Rio, DJ M., and Don played music and had discussions about how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. influenced them and the world.
