Volunteer Profile: Lex

Name: Lex

Role: Work Study/Student Intern

Local or Transplant?

Pretty local! I was born and raised in Central Maine.

What do you do at WMPG?

I’m the Student Engagement Coordinator/Intern! I do some of the social media posts, help with our communications/outreach, and whatever else I’m needed for.

How did you get involved at WMPG?

I saw the position advertised on the USM Job Board, and it being my last semester, I really wanted a job that allowed me to be really involved with the university/student body. So I applied! I definitely made the right call.

How long have you been at WMPG?

Since January 2023! However I did some writing for the Library Times Podcast back in November of 2022.

What do you do when you aren’t volunteering?

I’m part of a dungeons and dragons group, I take part in the Student Library Advisory Board, and I sing in the Huskapellas. However, whenever possible, I’m hanging out with my two 9 year old pit-bulls: Burt and Harlow.

Why is WMPG meaningful to you?

Because so much of the work done here is uplifting voices which need the platform. Students, community organizations, underrepresented groups. The work matters to me because I feel like what we’re doing is such a beneficial service to our community.
