Description
Radio Junkdrawer is about how people meet music and how artists and works may connect and illuminate one another. Intermingling exquisite songs, formal experiments, obscure voices, and electronic fun, the program juxtaposes new music (much of it from local artists, studios, and labels) with sounds from earlier decades, sacred music from the Middle Ages, and folk music from Asia and Europe.
BACKSTORY Since Radio Junk Drawer materialized in Portland, Maine in 2001, Mister Pence has offered junk-drawer perspective every Wednesday afternoon: smart sound, garage visionaries, pop with a problem. Between March 2020 and June 2022 Mister’s junky outlook shifted to a Garage, a Furnace, and a Garden; post-plague the show and its Mister returned live to the studio near the Roundabout by Surrenden Fields, and 2023 saw the tweaked restoration of the name Radio Junkdrawer. Thank you for listening.
