WMPG Is Seeking Contract Engineer

 

 

WMPG is seeking to “contract ” a Radio Audio Engineer for 10 hours a week. The qualified person will have a couple years experience repairing broadcast equipment and comfortable with computer networks. We need someone to make our radio signal sound great! This is a “contract” position and not a USM position.

This person will be responsible for the technical quality of the signal broadcast to our transmitter site and shall perform regular maintenance of studio and audio equipment and provide support to technical operations at WMPG.

The WMPG Radio Audio Engineer’s duties include, but are not limited to:

●  Repair and perform regular maintenance of current broadcast studio and other audio equipment including computers related to broadcast functions.

●  Investigate, plan, design, procure and install additional or revised broadcast computing platforms as needed.

●  Provide support to technical operations at WMPG and off-site locations as needed.

●  Operate electronic test equipment to conduct routine diagnostic checks on equipment.

●  Operate and maintain broadcast quality audio equipment.

●  Fabricate special components not available from commercial sources.

●  Repair and maintenance on studio, remote and office audio equipment as needed except FMmonitor, STL, EAS and Broadcast Antennae.

●  In collaboration with USM ITMS and Network Maine, maintain and monitor computer networks as needed.

●  Perform repairs,  preventive maintenance on studio, remote and office audio equipment, services and installation of cables.

●  Maintain repair and maintenance records on studio, remote and office audio equipment, service and installation of cables and computers.

●  Act as technical consultant to Station Manager and recommends equipment purchases.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

● Knowledge of broadcast quality audio equipment, computers, ability to be

self-directed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

● Qualified candidates will have at least two-year experience in the repair of broadcast quality studio equipment.

● Meet University of  Maine System Insurance  Requirements.
