The disc jockey’s primary tool is context. What does one record say about the next? Is it possible to elevate a pop song by mixing it with serious music? To challenge our perceptions of either. Can we bridge generational rifts by celebrating the history of recorded audio? Will we let language barriers or genre preferences segregate our record collections?
Track selections range from obvious to the obscure.
For years this program was 1:30-4am on Friday mornings, then it moved to 10pm on Thursday nights. Since summer of 2025, it moved to Fridays at 1pm, and towards the end of that year got reduced to a one hour program. Since becoming a day time program, Signal Boost has turned it’s focus to NEW music, and embraced much more live production, inviting touring bands and artists to come on and perform live on air or talk about their new records and/or upcoming shows. We also feature lots of new DJs and trainees to dip their toes into the cool waters of live broadcast.
