WMPG’d Program Committee is once again highlighting an exceptional program on our schedule outside of the peak drive time listening hours.
This time the committee would like to direct listeners’ attention to ¡A La Vista! (with DJ El Perseguidor), which airs on alternating Sundays from noon-2pm.
From program committee member, Mel Shapiro:
If you’re listening to the radio on any given Sunday from noon to 2 pm and if it happens to be the alternating Sunday that the beloved El Perseguidor is hosting… well, you’re in for a treat. DJ El Perseguidor will charm you and draw you in with his existential ponderings and the questions he poses to those fortunate enough to be listening…
But it’s not just the questions that will engage and destroy, it’s the fact that you feel, you genuinely FEEL, like he’s talking to you, yes YOU, little old you on the other end of the ‘line’… because what DJ EP does so effervescently and so deceptively well is let you forget that you’re separated by space and time and rather, creates the illusion that we’re all just hanging out having a really sweet and engaging conversation, and that he really wants to know your answer, he really truly wants to hear what you have to say when he inquires what is your relationship to the moon; how do you think of the sun? What does autumn air make you FEEL??
But it’s not just me; oh NO NO NO—nosireeebub….DJ EP’s listeners are charmed by his thoughtfulness, the sweetness of his approach and the seamlessly poetic way he speaks about the music he’s selected for you and his relationship to the seasons, to a piece of writing he’s selected to share with you this week…to you, the anonymous persons on the other end….
Our beloved Blunt Youth Alum and DJ extraordinaire in her own right, Janelle, adds:
Pablo’s show is rich in depth and quality, there’s something for every listener to take away from it and opportunities for everyone to engage with it–super well-rounded. The call-in prompt that he had for listeners last week was great, asking listeners what their relationship with the moon was in a very meaningful, poetic context.
The way he’s able to mix his passions for literature and language, identity/cultural representation through media in a contemporary and historical fashion, and radio is extremely successful and apparent.
He’s structured, has good flow, and is very thoughtful with every aspect of his show.
Tune in to 90.9fm or wmpg.org on Sundays from noon to 2pm to hear El Perseguidor for yourself. His next program is on Oct 25, and alternating weekly with another excellent program, Sergio’s Our Latin Thing.
