13th Annual WMPG Christmas Eve Radio Marathon

Get ready to listen as WMPG DJ Jim Ward presents his special holiday program for all on Christmas Eve. Beginning on Saturday Dec 24th at 5pm you will hear songs, comedies, radio dramas and more – that invoke the Christmas spirit. Get ready to be surprised by Jim’s eclectic program. It’s a marathon because the show continues all night and ends on Christmas morning at 8:30am. Jim will be up all night monitoring Santa and the reindeer. Here’s a list of what Jim will play:

2016 WMPG CHRISTMAS EVE

5-7pm CHILDREN’S HOUR (Music from their favorite holiday tv
specials including the reading of “Twas The Night Before
Christmas” by your favorite WMPG personalities,as well
as the tracking of Santa’s journey).

7-8pm Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol” as it originally aired
on the “Campbell Playhouse” from 12-24-1939 starring
Lionel Barrymore and Orson Welles.

8-9pm MUSIC HOUR – “An Irish Christmas” – Holiday music from
the Emerald Isle performed by some of Ireland’s beloved
singers and musicians.

9-10pm Radio Special – “A New Orleans Christmas” (Merry Christmas
and Happy Holidays from the Crescent City, NEW ORLEANS!
This hour serves up gumbo Christmas rhythms mixed with
Jazz, R&B, Blues and Zydeco).

10-11pm MUSIC HOUR – Various Artists

11-12am Radio Special – “Right Between The Ears Christmas Special!”
(An hour-long special of improv-sketch comedy with a
Yuletide flavor, featuring the award-winning show Right
Between the Ears).

12-1am MUSIC HOUR – Various Artists

1-2am Radio Special – “The Saint – Christmas Eve Problems” –
(Starring legendary actor Vincent Price portraying the
Robin Hood-inspired crime-fighter Simon Templar in this
classic from 12/24/1950.)
2-3am MUSIC HOUR – Various Artists

3-4am Radio Special – “The Martin & Lewis Christmas Show” –
(Starring Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis as it originally aired
on NBC Radio on 12/12/1949)

4-5am MUSIC HOUR – Various Artists

5-6am Radio Special – “Gunsmoke – Christmas Stories” – (Starring
Robert Conrad as Marshall Matt Dillon from 12/20/1952.
In this episode Marshall Dillon runs into a stranger on the
trail as he is trying to make his way back to Dodge City in
time for Christmas morning.)

7-8am Jim’s locally produced Radio Special – “The Spirit of
Christmas” (Featuring the music and words of Johnny Cash
from his holiday records. Others include Waylon Jennings,
Willie Nelson, Jim Reeves, George Jones, Tammy Wynette,
and Roseanne Cash.)
