On alternating weeks, Program Already in Progress goes live with improvised radio theater...complete with spontaneous foley sound effects and the hilarious voice characterizations of Instant Comedy. When the National Audio Theatre Festival (NATF) held a three-day Audio Theatre Writer's Weekend here in Portland, PAIP was proud to present a special live performance on stage at USM's Luther Bonney Auditorium. The program included the talk show "Becky Toothy Soccermom", an episode of the soap opera "Dramatic Hospital", various subvertizements, live music, and a totally off the cuff "Tale of Effing" based on audience suggestions.

PAIP #2.1: A Weekend In The Mountains
Jim and Madge Bartley of Effing, ME decide to take a camping trip over the long weekend. They load up on supplies at L.L. Bean, gas up the minivan at Effing Fossil Fuels, and head for the hills. But once they start making their way up Big Effing Mountain, they run into several unusual characters who turn their relaxing weekend inside out!
