Radio Open Mic 5 Info and Ground Rules
On
Friday night, Nov. 16th 7:30 to 9:30 the fifth edition of Radio Open Mic takes
to the WMPG airwaves! Be there andÉbe on the radio!
What
is Radio Open Mic? ItŐs exactly
the same format as open mic night at your favorite club, only on the radio.
Except we donŐt serve Hampshire Ale. Sorry.
WhoŐs
responsible for this? Lorenzo
Raffa (The Lorenzo
Commentaries) is the creator,
producer, and host. The program is engineered by the talents of Isaac Shainblum
(The Locals) and Jamie Lebish.
Who
can perform? Anyone! (OK, mimes
and jugglers donŐt work well on the radio.) We can accommodate groups of up to
five performers at time. Acoustic instruments are preferred, but small amps are
OK. Due to time and space considerations, please no drum kits. Comedians and
other spoken word performers are also welcome, but please remember that you are
on the public airwaves!
When
and where do I sign up? ItŐs an
honest to God open micÉjust show up at our studio (92 Bedford St., Portland on
the beautiful University of Southern Maine campus) between 7 and 9:15 PM.
How
many songs can I play? Usually
itŐs one or two, depending on time and number of other performers waiting.
Sometimes we ask people to stick around and play again later in the show.
Comedians/spoken word, five or so minutes.
What
if I canŐt make it in? No
problem. Email an MP3 ( or 2) to radioopenmic@gmail.com
and itŐll be played between live acts that night, time permitting. Deadline is
Thursday, November 15th, 5PM. You may also drop a CD off at the station during
business hours, Att: Lorenzo Raffa.
What
if I donŐt want to perform? ThatŐs
easy! Just listen to the show Friday night, Nov. 16th 7:30 to 9:30, only on
WMPG . And tell all your friends!!
